02 / 06 — Context
Detak is a luxury atelier and thrift shop focused on the purchase, resale and restoration of high-end fashion items. The existing website no longer reflected the quality of the brand or supported its business ambitions. Users encountered inconsistent interfaces, unclear navigation and friction throughout the purchasing journey, making the experience feel less reliable than the products and services being offered. I joined the project to investigate these usability problems and redesign the digital experience, creating a clearer e-commerce journey while preparing the platform to support Detak's broader range of services.
03 / 06 — Challenge
The main challenge was balancing the expressive character of a luxury fashion brand with the clarity and efficiency expected from an e-commerce experience. The platform needed to feel distinctive and refined without compromising product discovery, purchasing security or navigation. At the same time, the redesign had to move beyond a conventional online store and accommodate different interactions between Detak and its customers, including sales, resale, restoration and consulting.
04 / 06 — Research
I investigated how users navigated the existing website and where they encountered difficulty during the purchasing journey. Through interviews, heatmap analysis and a heuristic evaluation, I mapped friction points involving navigation, information hierarchy, interface consistency and the visibility of key actions. The research showed that the challenge extended beyond the visual appearance of the website — users needed clearer pathways to understand the products, evaluate their options and proceed with confidence. I also identified that the existing structure did not adequately communicate the full scope of Detak's business, which included not only selling luxury items but also purchasing pieces from customers, providing restoration estimates and offering consulting services.
05 / 06 — Solution
I translated research findings into four main areas: information architecture and navigation (reorganizing the website structure to create clearer relationships between products, categories and services); purchasing journey (reviewing e-commerce flows and developing wireframes to validate hierarchy before the final interface); service expansion (dedicated pathways for customers interested in selling items, requesting restoration or accessing consulting); and a visual system connecting Detak's luxury positioning with consistent interaction patterns. I collaborated closely with a full-stack developer to align the design with payment integration, security and the content management system.
06 / 06 — Results
The redesign transformed Detak's website into a clearer and more cohesive digital experience, strengthening the relationship between the brand's positioning and the usability of its e-commerce platform. The revised journeys made it easier for users to discover products, navigate the website and understand the different services available. The new experience contributed to increased conversions and longer user retention, while the design system created a more flexible foundation for future features. Beyond improving the online store, the project expanded Detak's digital presence into a broader service platform for the purchase, resale, restoration and consulting of luxury fashion items.
